Full Moon in Leo

On February 5th we have a dramatic Full Moon at 16 degrees of Leo. Leo rules from the heart and so the major theme with this Full Moon will be focused on love, creativity, courage and getting back to our heart center.

Leo is a playful and childlike energy. It reminds us to get back in touch with our inner child. To go back to that place that brings joy to our heart, to the stuff that makes us happy, and to our loved ones. Ruling from the heart, Leo adds a sense of romance, love and passion to everything. Expressing our creative side and shining through our self-expression are key to connecting with the Leo energy.

In addition, Leo is associated with glamour, royalty, and drama. The Leo energy loves being center stage and reminds us that we are the main character in our story. It gives us that boost of confidence to stand in our power and shine through our self-expression. Leo relates to the solar plexus chakra which is where our confidence, our power and our self-esteem are manifested.

Uranus, the planet of change is actively involved in this Full Moon. This can add a sense of uncertainty and impulsiveness to the energy of this lunation. We may feel a rebellious or chaotic energy with this Full Moon if we don’t stay grounded. Uranus is also the planet of awakening and of reaching higher states of consciousness. Because it’s highly involved in this lunation, we may get sudden insights or ideas out of nowhere during this time. Stay open to receiving the upgrades the universe has for you.

A Full Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are on opposite sides. For this lunation, the Sun is in the sign of Aquarius while the Moon is in Leo, and therefore creating a pull between both energies. With Aquarius the focus is on the collective and on our community, while with Leo, the focus is on ourselves and our heart’s desire. Aquarius is the genius innovator; Leo is the creative performer. Leo wants to love, and Aquarius wants to detach. This Full Moon is asking us to balance our heart and our mind. It is shining a light on what is no longer bringing joy and love to our life and what needs releasing.

The signs mostly impacted with this Full Moon are Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio.

Suggested crystal for this Full Moon: Citrine, Tiger's eye

LEO Full Moon Ritual

Sit outside and look at the Full Moon, light a yellow, white, or silver candle, meditate and journal on these prompts:

What can you let go that is not in alignment with your heart and does not bring you any joy right now? How can you release fear and embrace your inner courage?

Take a moment to connect with your inner child. What does she/he need right now? How can you make her/him happy? Sit with this energy for a moment.

Write down on a small piece of paper what you want to release. Think of something that is blocking your creativity, something that is hindering your self-esteem, or something that no longer brings you happiness. Carefully burn that piece of paper on your candle flame and let it burn completely.
